Meet Shawnie.
Before
Mile High Youth Corps, I didn't know what I was going to do with my life. I
hung out with gangs and criminals dealing and doing drugs. Once I found out
about MHYC, I saw I could change the way I was living, so I joined MHYC.
Shawnie came to Mile High Youth Corps without a GED or high school diploma – he joined the YouthBuild Program and was given a second chance to do well in school. Shawnie has finished his GED and now has plans to begin his college career. In addition to completing his education, MHYC also provided Shawnie with valuable skills so that he can make better choices and move beyond his troubled past. I learned leadership skills and how to work as a team, and most of all, I learned to care about my community after MHYC. Help MHYC build the future with youth like Shawnie by contributing funds to support our classroom. |
