 Dirty Boots Campaign

Meet Desi.

_ When was the last time you watched a young woman take down a tree with a chainsaw, replace a toilet, or nail together lumber to build a house? At Mile High Youth Corps, women (and men) using power tools is a regular occurrence, and just one of the many life skills that our youth Corpsmembers learn on the job.   Desi Preston came to MHYC from California and now works with our Water Conservation Program to lower the utility bills of Denver-area residents.

I've learned to use several different types of tools including a hammer drill and an insulation blower. I also have made life-long friends that share the passion of serving our community.

Desi plans to use those skills to build her own home in the future.  And, her next steps will fuel one of her other passions – horses -- as she applies to an equine vocational school to futher her education.

Mile High Youth Corps needs your support to continue our conservation efforts across the Denver area and Southern Front Range.  Keep Colorado green by helping us to purchase tools for our 2012 crews!
